Nathan’s Holiday Trek 2006

I was attracted to this old-fashioned watch shop sign.

Below is another place which I have photographed before, a footbridge over the old moat. People always feed birds from this spot.
January 2nd: walking around Wroclaw some more

January 2nd was the first working day of 2007, so my sister and I went to run a few errands, do some shopping and so on. Along the way, we returned to some of the usual spots. I was in my “street-shooting mode”, not looking for anything special, but just being on alert for photographic opportunites. This is the way I often prowl around a city.
I love this glass sculpture on Rynek, and I have photographed it many times. This is one of those places where I am always looking for a new angle.
Here is an example: I liked the juxtaposition of a woman with quite striking hair walking past a mannequin with no hair (in fact, no head).
On Rynek, the dismantling of the stage from the New Year’s Eve concert was almost complete. Only the skeleton was left, and that too was disappearing rapidly.
In one of the side-streets in the old city, there is a sculpture of animals: pig, goat, goose etc. The small plaque in the middle says: “Dedicated to the animals we slaughter--the consumers”. I don’t know if this is a political statement to promote a vegetarian lifestyle, but it does get one thinking, and in the end this is one of the main purposes of art.
