Nathan’s Holiday Trek 2006

Finally, around 11:30, we are on our way to the cemetery to meet the rest of the family.

Preparations

On Boxing Day (Dec. 26th) I had the honour of participating in a very meaningful tradition in Lars’s family. His father died in 1997. Since then, Lars and his siblings have instituted a tradition of meeting at his father’s grave at noon, and then have a traditional Danish Christmas lunch afterwards, a meal which is hard on both the stomach and the liver. But first Lars had to prepare; his job was to bake the bread.
After the bread was baked, I wanted to take some pictures of it; so Lars got out his professional lighting rig. I normally eschew flash, preferring to use ambient light for all my photography. But I must admit that this was an impressive rig, and it certainly worked very well.
Here is the bread Lars baked.

And here is a portrait of Lars, taken using the rig.
