Wroclaw has undergone a version of Boston’s “Big Dig” in the past couple of years; the square on the right, Plac Grunwaldzki, is one of the city’s main junctions. It has been closed for most of the past year for construction of a big shopping centre, just visible behind the tall building on the left. At the same time, the road and tram lines on the right have been refurbished. The whole thing is to open in the spring of 2007. The circle is going to be named the “Reagan Circle”. Ronald Reagan is widely viewed as a hero in Poland.
