Introduction
This is a travel diary of my annual Christmas & New Year trip to Denmark and Poland. On December 24th, I set out from my home in Almere to Mårslet in Denmark (just south of Århus), to spend Christmas with my closest friend, Lars. We have been friends for exactly 30 years now, since we ended up in the same high school class in 1976.
Lars is a photographer like me--actually he is better than me, both at taking pictures, and especially at Photoshop. This is the Christmas card he sent me this year. It’s all there--the baby Jesus, the Virgin (modeled by Marie, Lars’s daughter) and the Three Kings (Klara, Marie’s sister, doing triple duty).
My cat Taco accompanied me on the trip, as he always does. He is a good kitty, and although he does not exactly enjoy spending several hours in a car, he generally behaves himself.
Travelling on Christmas Eve day has its advantages, particularly when it is also a Sunday. The motorway was totally clear, and the weather good as well. So I was able to cover the 750 km from my house to Mårslet in about 6 hours.
